CUBA COMMITMENT

I have not written an article for more than two months now. This article has been a long time coming and tells more of what God has done overall than just lately. Satan attacks, the Lord of the Harvest calls and your intercession has moved the Hand of our Great God! Please seek the Lord for Cubans and those committed to them.

Updates:

Metropolitan Baptist will begin her 2007 Missions Month Conference the first week in October and we do seek your prayers for us. Our Church made a commitment 5 years ago as a collective body, a decision not so easily entered into. This decision for Cuba has cost us more than anyone outside of our walls could ever truly understand. Now that I have said this, let me make it very clear that this decision has brought us the power of God in our prayers, and has made me personally realize how God can use thousands of prayers world wide to accomplish HIS work in the most difficult of places. It is truly amazing what the Lord of the Harvest has done in our midst. You, the faithful intercessor, giver and burden-sharer have given nearly $70,000.00 in only 5 years from around the world. We have seen at least 8 men, this year alone, on the island surrender to the ministry of their own people. I have received at least 10 different calls, this year alone, of men in America surrendered to go to Cuba . There have been 4 tracts, 2 booklets and the ABC’s of Christian growth printed on the island. Countless trips have been made by not only our missionary but many missionaries surveying the island and training nationals. This has resulted in an advancement in awareness of Discipleship, national training of men and evangelistic outreaches which were being done before but now hopefully by a more multiplied proportion.

Lord willing, within the next few months our last container will be shipped off to Panama and therefore resolving ourselves from the first phase in our Commitment. Now all preparation has been made for the fall of communism from this side of the burden, now we must lean our resources into the heart of the Gospel… MEN! We must train men. It was the commission of our Lord to separate 12 men for the training of the ministry and this is what we are to do in Cuba as well. It is our desire to send Brother Bruce Martin back to Cuba and help several others financially make the journey to Cuba for the training of more men for their own Harvest field. We hope to begin within the next couple of months sending men from all over Latin America to help us become even more effective. Increased efforts and investment into this is necessary to see the task completed and our burden realized in the national salvation of all Cubans.

Prayer Request:

Praise God for you, intercessor! With your continued giving and most especially intercession, more can be done than we have ever dreamed possible five years ago. The fire that lights our Commitment is Intercession. Intercession is not just simply praying, but it is a lifestyle. It is a commitment to people and to God. Intercession comes from two Latin words – “inter” – “ceder”: Inter meaning – “between, many, involved, intervention” Ceder meaning – “to go, to yield, to move, to pay the price of” Therefore the Roots suggest: “To go between” as when stepping between two in a fight One who “yields himself to someone in need of assistance.” Intercession is “moving in the direction of involvement regarding the needs of others”, as found in Matthew 9:37 and Luke 10:33,34. It also suggests that Intercession means “to pay the price of intercession.” Christ set the example – He went to the cross to pay the price of intervention for our sins. As I have said previously Intercession is more that an aspect of prayer – it is a lifestyle. Our Lord’s life was characterized by a spirit of intercession. He gave HIS life a ransom for many. Our greatest gift to a lost world and to the Cubans specifically is our intercession.

Claim some of these promises from God and surrender your life to a life of Intercession, not only for Cuba but for our Lord’s goal…”…All men…”

Romans 8:32 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”

John 14:12-14 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

I Corinthians 2:12 “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

Mark 11:22-24 “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
