CUBA COMMITMENT

Updates:

We have been able to obtain a container in the last couple of months.  It was purchased from donations you have given to our commitment.  Thank you can not say enough, but rest assured your act will be expressed in detail one day in Glory.  Below is more information about this container and news of upcoming activities with our shipments.  Another sobering update to our commitment must be given first.  All but two of the American Missionaries that have gone to Cuba within our commitment have been pointed out by the authorities in Cuba and questioned.  This has made us rethink some of the possibilities and I will have some rulings of our decisions soon.  We must first have a ‘meeting of the minds’ to discuss what God has shown us and join in God’s plan for us now.  Needless to say, one missionary returned this week from Cuba with a similar event.  His report will be sent soon, along with his last trip report.  These reports take some time in processing what happened, then how do we release some of the information and protect the rest.  Pray for wisdom as we report this.

Information:

The forty foot container mentioned above has been storing some of Brother Tom Gaudet’s assorted literature destined for Thailand and then eventually for the extended region.  Last week we unloaded the material, moved it into the gymnasium for processing and relocated Cuba surplus materials like print presses, printers, copiers and cutters into it.  It is now one-half full of these bulk items.  The other two containers we have in Fort Worth are use for literature storage only and are reaching capacity.  These two are incapable of shipping because they cannot pass inspection for overseas shipping.  They are on the other hand great for storage and processing of literature.  As I have mentioned in the past, two other containers we have purchased; one twenty foot in Dominican Republic and another forty foot in Honduras are safely on the ground and we will be making plans this summer and beyond to make smaller ‘test shipments’ into Cuba.  These containers are strategically placed so that we can, if able to, ship now into Cuba in smaller amounts.  They will also be able to move more easily, not if, but when the country “opens.”  This will be advantageous to us, because the millions of miles of red tape and bureaucracy will slow if not halt all shipment from the US directly.  We will have our preverbal foot in the door with this precious literature.  Again as I have said many times in the past… We would be nowhere if it wasn’t for your prayers!  The Lord of the Harvest has moved again and again with your specific prayers.  There are two more areas we must address though.  The ports of Panama are shipping containers nearly everyday to Cuba .  We need to set a forty foot container there as well.  This has been in the plan from the beginning, but our contact there is now available to find space to set the container.  Fortunately we have a forty foot container, the one that is holding the bulk items right now.  What we need is for you to pray for the Lord’s specific will again.  We need to send this container and it will cost approximately $4000.00 U.S.   In a round about way, this will cause us to buy another container.  We need another forty foot to replace this one and to keep for a seaworthy shipment to Cuba from the U.S. just in case we are able to ship from here in the future.  The funds are available for the purchase of this needed container but not for the shipping of the one we have.  Many trips are in need and several other projects and printing is underway.  We need prayer!

Prayer Request:

Please pray for our soon scheduled meeting for planning.  We also need you to pray for the funds for this Panama shipment.  I can get a container at a great cost within the next few weeks.  We also need to fund some trips soon, so please pray for our travel in the U.S. and abroad.  From the beginning it has been our desire above all else to have the Lord provide how HE wills to provide; it is up to us to ask.  God is working…He is calling…thank you for standing in the gap!
