CUBA COMMITMENT
I am sorry
this took so long getting out.
Apparently I had a virus invade my computer. Does Satan really think that a virus will
stop updates about Cuba?
He may try a number of things but I know that the LORD is great! We attended a conference last week in Fort Worth.
There I met men that I had not met before, those have been praying for Cuba for some time now. Isn’t it strange that the LORD will use many
mouths to carry HIS message? Are you
praying? Do you have others praying with
you? Do you make it a matter of time in
your schedule at Church to have people pray for the miraculous opening of Cuba?
If so, please tell me. It would
be such a blessing for our people to know that.
This week Brother Bruce Martin returned from a trip into Central America.
After his return he informed me of a conversation he had with an old
friend. This man is a strong Baptist and
has made trips into Cuba recently. After discussing the facts with Brother Bruce
I wanted to let you know what we discovered from this mans report.
It takes an
$85.00 US to attain a religious visa.
This is separate from the Permit we discussed in a few e-mails ago. This visa is obtained by having a sponsoring
Church in Cuba sponsor you into the country. This enables you to preach and teach as needed
– otherwise it is illegal. When he
arrived into the country he was stuck at the counter until the sponsoring
Church came there. Of course he was
trapped for some time (Cuban timing).
After some time they eventually showed up and they began their journey
to Santa
Clara
from Havana.
This was done in a 48 Dodge that broke down on the way. This Brother was there at the Church for two
weeks teaching and preaching. The first
question would be – were they receptive to the messages? This schedule could help us see the impact –
Devotionals 8-9a.m. every morning. Then they
had classes from 9 a.m.-12p.m. every day. Then
after lunch they returned from 1-4p.m.in more classes. A little break occurred and then started
evening worship from 6 - ? The messages
and lessons given were all in Spanish of course but dealt with subjects such
as; marriage, divorce, remarriage, the head of the home, and Church. These subjects were much needed – the home
in Cuba is a mess! All of these subjects prick right to the
heart of every Church we saw while there also.
They had many decisions – 29 saved, 10 rededications, 6 Baptisms. There was other teaching in the institute
this Brother is trying to establish there.
They included Intro into the Old Testament, Systematic Theology, and
Bible study methods. This is the main
reason this man investigated Cuba was to start these institutes – this may
be a very good contact for some of the men wanting to go in and work in Cuba.
At least we know they will be receiving good doctrine that we can
trust. He had also mentioned they were
able to take books, and Bibles. Their
attendance was from all over the province.
This is noteworthy to see that the message wants to be heard – even if
it is controversial such as the home.
Please pray for the Pastor of that Church – I cannot tell you his same
because of security of that man and his family, but I can tell you that we can
pray for “Brother C”. The Lord will know
– this is about as specific as I can be for now.
