Summer has been productive and full of intercession. Recently there have been two hurricanes and several mixed reports as to how things really are in the interior of the island. We are always in need of a good gauge as to what the government is doing and how well they are by measuring how they handle disasters. After a couple of hurricanes we will be able to compare what the reaction was before to how it is now on the island. We know the Cuban government is already set on edge economically. What will Raul do different from Fidel; How do the people feel the government is dealing with this; and so on. For this reason we are sending our missionary this month to effectively gauge what is happening and from that we can processes a potential change of strategy. In the 'Subject Links' section in the left column you will find the link to the 'Miami Herald article' on the reports of disaster from the island today. Please intercede for the information that this missionary will process. He will also be investigating some potential problems and opportunities happening in a couple of the Churches. Details are covered in the next section.
In the trip described above, our missionary will be investigating some Pastoral changes some Churches have undergone. There is no details to report, nor could we disclose any, so please pray for the wisdom of this missionary and the discernment if he needs to counsel the brethren. An opportunity has risen that needs much intercession. Not much can be said now, but please begin interceding for this potential opportunity. There is a Cuban preacher leading a congregation and this said church has called for his ordination and asked us to be involved, to the point of being the authority. They have been a convention controlled church and in need of proper authority and training. They have requested this, so we must look into the many facts involved. After the investigating is complete then we will discuss it upon the missionary's return to the U.S. We will report to you as many details as we can after his safe return. This trip will also allow our Brother to set up dates for Discipleship trips later this year and next. The future trips will more and more include men from Latin America. We need your prayers as to how this will be paid for… Our Lord will provide! We need your intercession as to who should go and when they should go. The trips need to be funded, but we are depending on HIS supply. IntercessionTo recap this update we ask that you pray for these needs specifically and look over the letter for more details. · Pray for special insight with wisdom and discernment for our Missionary as he investigates the "feel" or "mood" of post-disaster Cuba. · Pray for funds to come in soon for the sending of men from Latin America to Cuba for Discipleship training. · Pray for wisdom as our Brother counsels the Churches involved in this trip. · Pray for the discernment of our Missionary as he makes decisions while in Cuba as to the potential trips later this year and making contact for trips next year. · Pray for the Will of God and it alone to be accomplished! In HIS Service, Travis A. Jones |
