Updates

A Brother in Cuba wrote a short update from the island.  He is a faithful servant and a very strategic part of the overall evangelism of Cuba.  I thought you might like a special note from him this week.  This message has been modified for reasons of security and understanding of the context.

I’m in S C. I sold the car and  I bought paper, ink, and masters, plus the air conditioner.  It cost an arm and a leg.  I have purchased the press and I think I will have to buy an adapter. Since I can’t find one and we want to start right away. Tomorrow I’ll go out to distribute some books and tracts in a rented car. We also will try to buy some more office supplies for the jobs that we have. Brother Y will be with me.

Isn't this exciting?  These men are working with materials you helped to provide.  First let me explain a few things -SC does not stand for South Carolina, it’s a city in Cuba.  The books and tracts mentioned are the ones you helped provide funds to print.  Now to the car…. This Brother like all Cubans will work for days on a car that will never run again and waste valuable time ministering because of the life-long urge pounded in them by the communists.  Not that they shouldn’t be frugal with the Lords possessions, but they need to be used for God with discernment.  In Cuba this is known by several titles, but one missionary gave it this title- the "I can't" syndrome.  Karl Marx once said, "…limit their minds and you limit their abilities." This Brother has suppressed this communistic urge and is moving on ahead for the Gospels sake!  I'm very excited about that by itself.  This is done because you the intercessor have prayed for him and sent money for men to train him out of some of these mentalities.

This leads me to my next point, one you will hear about more often...We desperately need to spend more time on the island.  A couple of missionaries to whom we cooperate with are going here and there when they can.  But their presence alone at the wrong time can be a threat to the survival of the work with the national men.  Therefore they elect to limit their trips and tread cautiously while there.  We want to help them.  It is our desire to further enable the works in Cuba by supplying funds for airfare to Latin American men that are tried and proven.  They can fly in and work virtually undetected (less detected than a six foot white guy).  The experiences they have and can share in Discipleship will be invaluable.  We feel we MUST do this.  It will cost $1000.00 per person per week to cover the costs.  These men have volunteered and are very eager to help. They too have a burden for Cuba and we believe we can help each other in this.  We have 5 trips committed and more volunteers coming forward.  It is our desire to make a trip a month for 10 days a trip (minimal).  This will be a grand total of $15,000.00.  Will you consider this and pray steadfastly with us for this need?

Intercession

To recap this update we ask that you pray for these needs specifically and look over the letter for more details asking God to provide you with illuminated insight and discernment.

·         Pray for the ongoing printing operations.

·         Pray for wisdom of the Cuban men.

·         Pray for funds to come in soon to send men from Central America to Cuba for further Discipleship training of the Cuban nationals.

·         Pray for special insight with wisdom as to these travel plans we are making for the rest of the year.

·         Pray for this Commitment - as we move into Satan's kingdom - he will fight back.
