Updates

We have many opportunities before us now.  Each one in need of your intercession.  I will be reporting more often now than usual because of the fast moving nature and specific cares on the island and here at home.

Two men will be going into Cuba the month of April and we desire your prayers for them both.  One will be traveling to meet new contacts and further the training of the men he is already working with.  The other is asking us to pray for him as he goes and further equips a Church he has been dealing with and a mission work out of that Church.  Both will be going in at different times for two different purposes and in two separate locations.  It is imperative that we pray for them both at this time.  One of these men is from Latin America and he has been called of God to go to Cuba!  Please pray as most of this trip is survey for him.

One more missionary is planning a trip in May, please pray for his plans.  He specifically asked us to pray for blinding of the officials eyes at his arrival and raise men for his labor while there.  Please call if you want more details than have been reported here.  Nearly all of this kind information should not be passed by way of email so this is the reason for vagueness on my part.   These men need your intercession!

Information

A letter from the Cuban government was sent to a missionary here in the U.S. stating that there will be no allowances for the "tourist visa" we're all accustomed to.  This will mean that if a Missionary wants to travel to Cuba and he takes his religious license from the Treasury Department, he will also be required to have a prearranged religious visa granted to him from a Cuban entity or Cuban Church registered to do so.  This presents several frustrations, but I see it as God leading us to HIS perfect will in the matter.  It is certain that we cannot break the United States law knowingly when there is in fact other ways to do something legally.  Having said that, there are options we ask your prayers for.

Thus far, one conclusion is to not take the license on our person physically printed out.  The Treasury Department requires you to carry this document on your person, so this poses a dilemma.  We have requested clarification on this issue asking if we are allowed to carry the document electronically then print it out when returning to the U.S.  This clarification from the Treasury Department has not been easy to obtain and we are requesting your intercession for this specifically.  If the answer is no, then we have some hurtles.  One being that each traveler will have to be granted a "religious visa" from the island as above described.  This will in fact "tip off" the officials as to whom the missionaries are and who they contact on their journey.  If you play out this scenario in your mind you can see the disaster it may cause.

I have spent several hours in phone conversations and one trip to DC to find the conclusions to this issue.  The only other possible conclusion is to invest in men from other countries.  We have strongly suggested that Latin American men trained for this should  make the journeys more often and intensely Disciple the men waiting in Cuba.  They are so much more accepted than we and the laws are in their favor.  This is a need brethren, a serious need!  If we can supply their trip they can do more!  Would you pray about this opportunity and the outcome to be of God and not of us.

Intercession

To recap this update we ask that you pray for these needs specifically and look over the letter for more details.

·         Pray for funds to come in for the sending of men to Cuba

·         Pray for God's will in purchasing equipment in Cuba (last letter).

·         Pray for the two missionaries this month traveling and one in May.

·         Pray for the clarification needed from the Treasury Department.

·         Pray for the Will of God and it alone to be accomplished!
