CUBA COMMITMENT
On March
26th J.P. Wright &
Company announced it has reached an agreement with “Alimport”,
Cuba's agency responsible for imports, to add
50 Florida cattle to its existing 250 head
deal. The shipment of the 300 head will
be the first shipment of Florida cattle to Cuba in more than 40 years. "We're continuing to rekindle the
historic trade relationship Florida once had with Cuba," said Parke Wright, of J.P. Wright
& Company. "Through this cattle
shipment, we're rebuilding a foundation for the supply and transportation of
agricultural commodities and livestock from Florida to Cuba."
Little do they know that in Cuba, Cubans are not allowed to buy and sell
beef, much less get the chance to eat a steak. That is reserved for Fidel’s family and friends. We have learned of this through our
interviews with Cuban exiles here in the U.S.
As we were told this news, we thought to ourselves of the different
trips made so far and every time we saw meat it seemed like beef but was not.
One cattle
owner stated "Our cattle are well-suited for the tropical climate in Cuba."
"The cattle trade between our two nations was a significant part of
the Florida economy before the embargo." WOW, if they can pass beef across an embargo
into Fidel’s backyard, why can our God not get containers of material into the
hands of needy Cubans? HE is
capable! But have we forgotten our
faith? We must lean on our LORD and
plead that our preparations come to pass.
Thank you for praying.
